Ebay Checkout- The Problems Continue

I bought an item selling as a buy it now for over $300 this afternoon and could not get past checkout. My credit card I recently added to my account is not showing as a payment option. Spent an hour on the phone with Paypal who said their records show the card on my account, they wound up sending me to ebay. On hold there over an hour until I gave up.

Question: am I on the hook for this item if I did not go through checkout? It's not showing as a purchase.

Well, this seems like an easy problem. Have you contacted the seller? I would go ahead and contact him and let him know that I want the item ( if you still do ). The seller can tell you how to pay, and PayPal can stop their part of the transaction.

Therein is the problem. While on hold with ebay I surfed on Amazon and found the same item for $40 less. Have a watch on it on there. I think I will let this lie for couple days and see if I get any notice from ebay about not completing payment. It was my decision to push the buy it now button so will honor the commitment if indeed I have one.

Should have done your homework before you hit the buy it now. Sounds like a little case of buyer's remorse and you're hoping for a way out.

If its not showing as a purchase in your myebay purchase history you are not needing to pay for it. Secondly if the item is still up for sale then you don't need to buy it. At any time before paid and shipped as well buyer can ask to cancel an order. Get the one on Amazon instead but look around other sites in case there is another even cheap option.

When I first connected my paypal to ebay I had some issues. It took them a few days to resolve it when I called customer support. In my case the transactions did show up in my purchase history. If yours did not, it sounds like you are off the hook. I would call ebay and ask them directly if you have any outstanding transactions. They should be able to check that on their end.

Thanks to all. As you may have guessed this is not a philatelic item, it's a wideband shortwave radio my wife is letting me use our family Visa card to pay for so I can get it for the Holidays.

I checked this morning, it is still listed with a Buy it Now, so it looks like I am off the hook. Also I bought another item just now and when going through checkout the card still was not showing as a payment option.

This is a very popular discontinued radio model that can be difficult to locate so that is perhaps why I was so quick to push the button. My instinct is telling me to wait a couple days more before assuming no issue exists.
