Now I'm sure you guys see these types of threads all the time. But I'd just appreciate a little advice if possible. My dad wants to sell his stamps he's collected over the years so I'm trying to figure out what kind of value there is. He has a cigar box full of them loose and a separate book full as well. Here's a picture looking into the box, see anything decent? Won't break my heart telling me their worthless. How should I proceed going forward? Thank you!

These are common stamps with little to no monetary value. Generally around a penny a stamp if they could be sold which would be difficult. |

Ok thanks! Maybe there's better stuff in the book. I'll post pictures from there when I get a chance. What are the odds there's a gem hiding in there somewhere? |

All I see is pretty common material. If you wish to really research it got to the library and look through a scott catalog. |

People who have not had much or any exposure to either coin or stamp collecting are unaware that these items are produced in the millions - and sometimes the hundreds of millions. And that has been the case for decades. So a first class stamp from 1950 is almost certainly not worth the paper it's printed on - even though it is from the middle of the last century. And sadly for those inheriting collections and asking these questions - the same answer would apply to almost every country for the whole of the last century. |

Welcome to the board from the other side of the state! There's a couple other Iowans on here but I can't recall their usernames at the moment. |

There's at least one other poster here from Sioux Falls, ( https://goscf.com/m/11752} although he doesn't post much. I don't know where most people here are from, to be honest, but I can't recall others who have volunteered that they're from this area. Glad to see another Siouxlander! |
