Does anyone know what this cancel is and possibly the company. Looks like a stencil type reading L A E.

LAE is what it appears to be. No idea what they stand for, probably someone's name.

Thanks to all, I didn't come up with anything either. I did not know that it was a double strike. I will load it to retro reveal and see if I can get the detail to show.

rwooden,
I think the issue is not that it is LAE but rather in identifying what LAE stands for. It may stand for a company name or a person's name. If these revenue fellows don't know it will be difficult to figure it out.

I'm not sure it's a double strike, the letters could just have been clogged.

In each case there is a second letter offset to the northwest of the main letters. Just follow the serifs.

It almost looked like different letters, especially in the "E". Retro Reveal did not show canx any better than what we see. I am glad that site is back online. I believe it was down for some time. I guess its back to Google to see if anything new pops up. Thanks for the help folks.

There is something to the northwest, but I am still not convinced it's another letter.
