There is a J.H. Malone in the C.S.A. Cemetary at Vicksburg, a photo of the headstone here. Possibly a son of?

Whoever Joe Malone was, he would have been living in the city of Murfreesboro at that time given the "City" notation on the cover meaning that it was mailed from within the city. The cancelation has the old name of the city on it - Murfreesborough. Ready would have been 52 years old by then - 25 years after the end of the war. Here is his wartime record:
1861: Lt. In 23rd Tennessee Infantry Regiment
1861 – 1862: Adjutant for 23rd Tennessee Infantry Regiment
1862: Major of 23rd Tennessee Infantry Regiment
1862 – 1864: Lt. Colonel of 23rd Tennessee Infantry Regiment
1863: Wounded during the Battle of Chickamauga Tennessee
1864 – 1865: Colonel of 23rd Tennessee Infantry Regiment
1864: Wounded during the Siege of Petersburg Virginia
1865: Present at the Surrender at Appomattox Virginia
