It has taken almost a complete lifetime, but this year I finally managed the resources to buy the three USA Zeps MNH.

I bought the cover shown here as part of a group lot on ebay (about $1 a cover). I consigned it to Rumsey Auctions, who sold it for $11,000 a few years ago. Japan used in China, Wuhu customs marking, and addressed to William McKinley as president-elect!

wert,

Beautiful !
Looking at 2016 Unitrade cat on # 72, no description of any variety of this stamp besides the perforated 72.
Could you give us a little "briefing" on this rarity -thanks
Renden

Thanks wert
You know that the term re-entry is not in our SC glossary. I checked the terminology on RE-ENTRIES.COM.My knowledge is growing as you present this variety (and others).
What specialized catalogue was used to find the 72p ?

Renden

If you look in Unitrade 2017 Catalogue on page 706 you will see it.
Even the N.S.S.C. (Newfoundland Specialized Stamp Catalogue) does not have the re-entry yet.

Got it Robert and I wish there was a little more information given about the plate proofs. My father was a Newspaper Editor, printer and owner of the largest French speaking weekly newspaper .....and I know what a printing proof is but in the stamp world, proof, re-entry etc. I am not yet comfortable but very curious.
having been raised in the printing shop under different printing systems.

René (its time I put the French accent !)

British Central Africa first provisionals, 1891-1895. All values above 10 shillings are UMM. There's an interesting oxidised 5 shilling in there as well.

Kenya and Uganda. £3, £4 and £5 are unmounted. Image compression (necessary, I guess) doesn't do these lovely stamps justice
