Hi Rod, Been browsing the 38 pages and decided I wanted to add to your collection. Not sure what the protocol is but tried emailing and got knocked back so if you could advise how to go about it or email me.... Castor |

Sc#27 1920 2d (Tuppence) King George Sideface. (Die l = thin "2") Sc# Wmk 9 Usage: Letter rate within Brit. Empire, Postcard rate to foreign countries. ACSC # 95 Electro #5 = 95 (5e) Possibly 2 states of "broken top of crown" Possibly State 1. chunk out of left hand side top of crown. (Orange) Perforations RHS look dodgy to me. State 2. Further chunk missing = Broken top to crown. (Pale Orange) |

Interesting flaws with the top of the crown, as I haven't got to my Aussie stamps I can't say but I do know I have some odd top of crowns in my NWPI overprints. Regarding the perfs you mention - a bit like this? |

No, yours are "rough perf" (I have not researched these as yet) My stamp has 17 teeth LHS, and 18 teeth RHS, the circumference of the apparent holes, look too large for perforating pins. I'll have to dig out the stamp and test for perforations, I just scanned 80 2d duplicates looking for (inverted Wmk $10,000) and other flaws. They lie confined in a glassine. etc I wonder what your stamp claims as colour?.... Reddish Pink ? should show orange -red lustre under UV light. Goodness me..these issues are so involved I could see no reference to your NWPI left hand frame flaws. |

Just a page from my Stockbook. Curious to see if shades of the 2d orange single Wmk show up on SCF. I wonder if it is ever possible for anyone new to the discipline to ever ID used Aniline stamps, or "semi surfaced" stamps? or "Dry print" The Brown-Orange (Not shown here) is the easiest to spot. Ignore the "1914" it is a Sc# reference. (Sc#27) Colours that exist....... Brown Orange Sept 1920 Yellow Orange Dec 1920 Intense Orange ~Aniline Dec 1921 Intense Yellow Orange~Aniline (OS Only) Orange . (Pale to deep) June 1921 Pale Dull Orange 1921 Orange (Dull to pale, semi surfaced) Dec 1921 |
