Your AFL footballer came from AP's 2016 AFL team stamp pack for Collingwood (yuck!) issued in 2017:

Aha! Thank you very much, Jill.

all together now...

Good Old Collingwood forever,
They know how to play the game.
Side by side they stick together,
To uphold the Magpies name.
See, the barrackers are shouting,
As all barrackers should.
For the Premiership's a cakewalk
For the good old Collingwood.

Gee, cigarette cards had nothing on Aust Post, 18 teams, that makes it $360 for a kick off.

Watching the Rugby League World Cup, and the likes of Lebanon, Tonga, Fiji and the Kumels from Papua New Guinea, I think I am about to change allegiance.

No more adverts whenever a goal is kicked....

Collingwood is the only Aussie rules team I know, because of the fab film The Club (from which I'm still known to quote the tawdrier lines). But when did stamps turn into Panini stickers? I suppose the Post Office's 2012 Olympics overkill was similar,

I'd sooner spend my money on pre-dec gems instead of junk.

"Junk" is a harsh word, Al.
But I get your drift. I think most of us are of a similar opinion, many long time Aust Post account members, seem to be abandoning set orders.

I don't recall buying any Australian stamp, after 1996, apart from Christmas presents to overseas colleagues.
Most "pass over my desk" as gratuities, or swaps.

I still collect using these, but the gaps are ever widening.

Most would agree with you, any $1 spent on pre-decimals, states etc, is going to be more entertaining.

AP also puts out an NRL stamp pack for each rugby league team each year.

I'm guessing only genuine used will be worth having & be well worth collecting .

Everyone will have mint but used will be rare & expensive

Hi Rod

It's Queenscliff, age seems to have merged the "l" and "i".

Thank you Rob.
Never seen a canceller like that before.
Queenscliff was a CDS not Oval.

Perhaps a Fiscal strike of some sort, then there's the heiroglyphics ?

I couldn't find a Queenscliff version, but take a look at this:

And here's a modified version of yours:
