Steiner Page 27.

Looks like Mr. Steiner is adding "Personalised Stamps" to his pages.
(Unlisted in Scott)
This is going to be very difficult to fill gaps for collectors.

Interesting your pages have personalised stamps positions but spelt with a "Z".

Rod,

I'm seriously amazed at your ability to be productive in so many areas. Seems like you have daily updates to Australia, Turkey, etc., in addition to substantive contributions to so many other threads. I'd love to be able to devote that much time and effort to my collection. Maybe when I retire in 10-15 years.

Thanks for your daily contributions to the board. Reading your stuff makes my non-productive work hours go by a lot faster.

Thank you very much, Postmaster.
I must say, being retired is great fun, and philately is an amazing pastime, to fill in any gaps.
I road cycle, bushwalk, and other things, but, takes a few minutes to open an album, mount a couple of issues, read a stamp magazine...its endless,
and (can be) a really inexpensive pursuit.

My day usually starts early, a cup of coffee whilst I read the SCF board, is a must. Then on to other things.
Sometimes colleagues drop by, have natter over a cuppa, auction lots we have bought, or lost, gardening, you name it.

I think you have it right, hoard stuff away, because it will come in handy one day. (But I don't want to wish early retirement on you...excepting a lotto win perhaps).

Releasing Self Adhesive used Stamps
(Self adhesive stamp, released from fragment to mounted in Album in under a minute)

Bestine
A "Road Test" 2017

Warning : This product is extremely flammable, and should be stored and used with caution. Keep away from young children..store High

Australia : Available at Bunnings as "Un-du" $13.95

Items required (and if acceptable to user) :
Long pointy stamp tongs (Tweezers)
Bottle of "Un-du"
"Johnsons baby powder" (Talcum Powder)
Bottle of gum solvent "white spirits" or orange citrus etc.
Clean cloth.

1. Remove the black plastic "spoon?" from the nozzle of the bottle, (this will take some stern waggling)
2. Place the stamp on fragment face down on a clean large dish.
3. Run a light trickle of Un-du over the envelope fragment, in line with the back of the stamp.

Note: "Un-du" (Bestine) evaporates almost immediately, one needs to be deft at the following procedure.

4.Using the long pointy tweezers, lift one corner of the self adhesive stamp, if it lifts, slide one blade of the tongs,
under the stamp, hold the envelope fragment, and slide the blade, under the stamp, until it lifts off.

I can achieve that generally in a few seconds, some envelope paper (for whatever reason) will not release the stamp
and you then have to by-pass, and use another solvent. ( approx 1 in 20?)

The stamp will retain its gum, just place the stamp on the dish edge, and discard the fragment.

4.The stamp should be dry within seconds, when dry, place on a small dish of Talcum Powder, and cover the gum,
until no tackiness remains. remove surplus with a clean cloth.

Finished.

Note: Gum will adhere to the blade of the tongs, a quick wipe with solvent / citrus and its gone. (Be cautious not to
damage the tweezers by opening the blades wide)

Using Long Pointies keeps the stamp flat, and the print surface undamaged, "peeling" can cause ink stress on the
face of the stamp under magnification.

Note: This routine is expensive, The "Un-du" bottle $13.95 (4 fluid oz, 118 mil) will release (guess) approx
50-60 stamps at best, if you are heavy with the application, less.

Heads up! Using Talcum powder is unknown to me regarding long term effects- If you intend to "Hinge" you are
going to meet with trouble.

Postage: ?
Looks like it would have to go into an International Medium Priority box which is $76 by post office. I'm sure FedEx or UPS would be more.

=$160 Australian Dollars.

Rod,

I've seen that book from Aussie sources for as low as AUD$125 before shipping. Might end up cheaper to go that route.

It might be possible to forego the flat-rate shipping from the US and get the price down, depending on the weight. Not sure how much the book weighs, but you might be able to get the shipping price down to US$20-$30 for the First-Class Package International Service. Not sure if that's the slow boat across the Pacific, though.

If you decide you want a US bidder to snag it and try to repackage it for cheaper shipping than you'd get from the ebay seller, just let me know.

That's very generous of you Postmaster.
Thank you kindly.

I am going to sit on the fence right now.
My stamp budget does not get into credit until beginning of February next year, I need to be disciplined.
So many bargains right now.

$45 was a great tease for a piece of excellent literature, hard to pass up.

BTW: I was remiss in not indicating the $76 was the ebay vendors quote for shipping.
