Interesting that they are finding this nasty jellyfish on the ocean bayside of Fraser Island and not the true ocean side.
As we know the box jellyfish breeds in the rivers and creeks up in the mangroves.
As an ex oyster farmer in Morton Bay (which is not far from Fraser Island)the stone fish stings are a 10 out of 10 for me and it lasts a few days.Thought I was dead 1st time but you have to get the antidote though and help was about 1hr+ away. Had 3 bad stings from them and a number of just got me's.You seem to walk on top of them. ( we have a stamp of this critter) Like if that is not enough there are the blue ring octopus ( we have a stamp of this critter too) They go inside a dead oyster shell with the oyster lid in place and curl up inside and shut the lid. Then you go to open them. Be dead if they bit me. And then there is the sharks up here. The bully's are the biggest shark problems here.All the memories are coming back........How did I get through all that? |
