Seek Assistance.

Threatened Species / Wildlife Series.

Any members have the low-down on these fellows?
A colleague and I wish to find / build the definitive listing of all these varied types/ perfs / printings.

It is a bit of a head scratcher, seek in depth knowledge , if anyone cares to share.

We wish to make a full album page/s, highlighting all the varieties.

Thank you.

Al,
Wildlife 1994 and all its varieties.
(Seen from an acute angle, there are shiny bits and dull bits)

According to Stanley Gibbons there are three types of peel & stick -
lithograph
typograph
typograph phospherised mesh

Some have peach bands and brown bands, all sorts of mix

NOTE: My error, calling them "Threatened Species"

I can easily tell Typo from Litho, but that's where it ends.

Possibly I need someone with access to ACSC late

Is there a foolproof way of measuring the perforations? I have a block of six of these animals Rob but I don't know if they are the 11 or 11 1/2. If they are the ones you're missing I'm more than happy to post them over to you. I also don't know how to differentiate between the Typograh or Litho. These ones are 'proper' Stamps as against the sticky ones

Rod, the 1993 sheet of 25 stamps - have you got that? I have one currently in a mixed album at the valuers - if they have no interest in it you're welcome to have it for your collection. I think if memory serves me right it was only issued with the year book if you answered a survey. This is the only image I have of it, so ignore the $1 stamps

Eiger,

No I do not, but that is a too generous an offer, I could not accept that, sorry Eiger, that sheet was worth $25 way back in 1999
It would be now $50 and upwards I should think..........A valuable piece of Philately.

The size also is beyond what I can mount on my Australian A4 sheet size.
It would be hard up against the sheet protector at 200mm
and would no doubt damage the item over time.

Your generosity is extraordinary Eiger. Thank you so much for the offer.

I'll answer your wildlife question shortly.................

Keep rugged up over there.....(Whilst the cyclists in the "Tour down under" are slaving under 100 degree F heat here)

The original issue was a sheet of two panes of 25 stamps (one above the other), with the 2 ladies in the middle of each pane. The later reversed sheet, issued only as a block of 25, had the 2 ladies surrounding the Conference symbol. Both versions cost $11.25 each (25 x 45c). You should certainly not be paying $50 now.

Rod, yes I did see the space on the page was quite small, if you change your mind let me know.
I'm still trying to check perf sizes on the animals! I definitely need a foolproof method

Eiger,
Yes there is........

1. You are confused at the moment (understandable) you have (or show)
normal perforated stamps.
These are Perf 14 x 14½

Foolproof way?
OK lets do the math...

The design is 30mm wide, and your stamps have 21 teeth
we do the math over 2 Cm = Perf 14

The stamps you enquire about, are "sa" = Self adhesive
These come in Perf 11 = Litho. Perf 11½ = Typo

Foolproof way?
Look at "Australia" and the value tablet "45c"

In the Typo (Letterpress) these letters/numerals have a "Halo" due to the
pressure of the typeset.

I'll add a image shortly

Hope this helps.
