Contemporary Parcel Post. Assuming the bracketed letters (S) Small (M) Medium Any Aussies recognise these Linen Postal Tags Kodak Australia P/L Possibly Medical Exposure tags? These are punctured in code, I see a problem in the future with Perfin collectors unable to ID. |

Australian Stamp Auctions. Is there a rule regarding opening bids in an auction room?
Would the opening bid be given to the room, or to a postal bid?
Thanks.

If the auctioneer had a number of off-site bids, he'd probably kick off with those. If only one, say, I imagine he'd kick off lower and try to generate some action in the room, then, if nothing, sell to the off-site bidder at the reserve. |

Thanks Geoff, hypothetical : Item is $6,000, with incrementation of $250 per bid rise, then whomever is second in line, is at disadvantage, or am I missing something. Also, Estimates are considered reserves, thus bids below estimates are not accepted. |

All sorted, Auctioneer has responded. Quote: Australian Stamp Auctions. Is there a rule regarding opening bids in an auction room? Would the opening bid be given to the room, or to a postal bid? Hi Rod, the opening prices will appear on the website a couple of days before the sale from postal bidders and then it is opened to the room at these figures with the postal bidders represented by the auctioneer at one step above any room bidders. If no room bidders then the lot sells to the postal bidder at the reserve. I hope this helps. |
