Hi guys..Here is a Scott 96 super imposed with a picture taken from Ralphs re-entries.com web site in the top left corner..I do have the re-entry as shown, but look at my larger stamp..."A" and "L" of the word "HALF"..Slight re-entry...Keep your eyes open and you can find lots of them.

Robert

Here is another one..Scott 98..First picture is from re-entries.com and second is my stamp..Look hard and you shall find.

BUT DONT LOOK IN UNITRADE..THEY DONT EVEN ACKNOWLEDGE IT EXISTS.

Here is what I think should be a re-entry BUT was requested to be removed from Unitrade..What do you think..?

The #96 and #98 appear to be traces of an un-erased guideline used when laying down the plates. The 5c value is rife with small marks and lines throughout the plate. None seem to be re-entries. That being said each stamp position may well show its own special marks that could probably be used to plate each position provided one has enough material and large pieces to do so.

Hello Diane,

Welcome to the world of specialised stamp collecting. You may be interested in two articles on my FlySpecker.com website that are designed to explain how early Canadian stamps are printed and how varieties can occur. These articles are designed for beginners and also apply to stamps from other countries that used engraved printing. Hopefully some good background information that will stop your head from spinning:

Constant Plate Varieties 101: Plate Varieties Related to Siderography and the Transfer Roll

Since we are back on the subject of reentries I thought it worth showing a recent ebay purchase. This I bought as an example of the misuse of the one cent printed matter rate but when I received the cover and looked at the stamp.............

Sometimes it pays to be lucky.
