Hello everyone, can anyone give an opinion as to whether the postmark Tresor et Postes 528 will add value to a cover. I have a pretty good idea what it means but don't know if it's common or not. It's from the early 1920s and I'm interested in it for a different reason. It has a registered mail label that I like.

Thank you!

That's pretty neat. French military post from the Greek occupation of Smyrna. A few months after that letter was sent it would get pretty exciting around there, as the Turks took back Smyrna in September.

At least that's what I think you have. Does that match what you were thinking?

The postmark is from the French Post Office in Smyrna (Izmir) in Turkey.

This office closed in 1923.

Yes, I've read that "pretty much everything" got censored at that time and this wasn't. Probably for the reasons Cjd states.

Is it ok to ask on the forum for general price info... is $25 too much? $50? More? Just say no if that's not appropriate.

Similar covers have sold for as low as 3 euros on Delcampe. It doesn't seem to be that rare given the volume of available covers.

As for translation, use Google to search for the website. It will give you an option to translate it.

Open the link.
Right click the page
Select "Translate to English"

Sometimes it may reply "unable to translate" a second try generally works.

Well, I bid it up to about $57 and the previous bidder still had a higher bid in. It seems like the examples with registered mail and maybe the seal on the back seem to get a higher price.

Luck of the draw sometimes. There's a registered one on Delcampe for sale at 17 euros. It might be the seal on the back, the combination of stamps or other factors, but even registered covers don't necessary sell for high prices - as low as 3 euros.
