I have always been fascinated with the actual process of making stamps. Here is an example of a day at the office that could have gone better and really holds this interest for me:

If it is not right down the middle the first try, just try it again:



Similar, on cover:



The idea of having to join the strips to make the coils:



And getting alignment of the second run with the first run just to get two colors:



In this day of computerized robotic precision for just about everything, these are very effective reminders of what it used to take.
