Oldest Marker Monkey Stamp.

Hi guys...Here is probably the oldest marker monkey cancel I have (could check more, but)...Here is a Scott 25ii with a marker cancel from 1868..Any one got more or older cancels like this...

I'm sure the the postal regulations Canada and the U.S. were quite different during the time period of the above cover.
In the U.S., the Post Office Department furnished cancelers to all the larger post offices:
Class I (annual revenue exceeding $1,000) received steel duplex devices,
Class II (annual revenue between $500 and $1,000) received iron postmarks,
and Class III (annual revenue between $100 and $500) received wooden postmarks.
The postmasters at the small fourth class post offices were left to their own devices, so to speak, and had to purchase their date stamps and cancelers out of pocket.
In July of 1873, there were 33, 780 post offices in the United States. About 95% of those were 4th class offices. All of them had pens.

As can be deduced from my avatar, I love a good manuscript cancel.

So I'm curious - for the early US stamps, a pen cancel usually drops the value of the stamp by about half, versus a handstamp or other cancellation. Is there a similar effect on the value of Canadian stamps that are pen cancelled?

Yes @txstamp; same effect on all classic stamps, I believe.

But some collectors (like me) are more tolerant of the pen cancels. Also, some of them I could never afford anyway

Wert, this has nothing to do with your cancels, but did someone leave the door open up there? The temps here feel like Canada.

Hey, its only -13 Celsius..Got my shorts on..

Well, I have my shorts on also. Right now it is 36 Fahrenheit - no idea about Celsius, and just came back from an almost empty grocery store because we expect between 1 and 3 inches of snow here tonight! Panic reigns!
Just checked. -13 Celsius is between 8 and 9 Fahrenheit. It does get that low here sometimes - once every 100 years or so!

Lol, pretty cold here, 14* Fahrenheit this am when I got up, and I'm in the lower end of the Willamette Valley, in Oregon. Had 6" of snow Tuesday, which is still here, too cold to melt! The high yesterday was 30. Unusual for this local!

ah..its not to bad here for snow this year.
