Hi. One of the things I try to do with old covers is trying to identify the person to whom it was addressed. If it's a famous person it's easy.Someone less famous it can be more fun.I knew J & S Goldschmidt was an antique dealer working out of Frankfurt from 1860 onwards. What I wanted was a picture of his addresse no. 48 Zeil. So I contacted different organisations who kindly sent me the precious photo and discovered the photo below. One can make out the lettering on the store front. The second photo was his second shop circa 1898 taken over by his son..after It's another story. (everything you see in the photo's were bombed out during WW2.)
Beautiful cover and great research! What I find interesting in the second photo is the relative lack of automobiles, with many walking in the streets. Fascinating photo!
