So, I've recently started a Great Britain album. I'm using these pages, printing them myself:

http://www.gbstampalbums.co.uk/

The commemoratives I have were easy enough to sort and find where they go. Just need to get more of them (accepting donations! lol). Anyway, now I"m looking at a daunting pile of Machins. So many colors, so many values. If you look at the link to the pages I'm using, you'll see a section called "decimal machins". There are also places for machins in the pages for other QEII-era stamps. What are decimal machins? Are these something completely different? Are they duplicates of what is shown in the regular QEII pages, but greatly expanded? Any help understanding and learning how to sort these would be greatly appreciated.

Dave, if you go to Robin Harris' site http://adminware.ca/machin.htm you will find the answer to all your questions!

Britain changed currency in February 1971.
Before that date....240 pennies made up a pound. There were twelve pennies in a shilling...20 shillings in a pound.
After that date there were new 100 pennies in a pound.
This divides stamps into pre-decimal and decimal.
Pre decimal Machins are identified by a "d" appearing after the number....eg 3d...5d ...whatever.
Decimal Machins are indentified by the letter "p" after the number....eg 2p....10p....25p.
Because of rampant inflation in the 1970s, there were new values at regular intervals.

Ah! Great info, thanks! Now, will I be finding machins of the same color and value being issued at different times, or did they mix it up enough so that won't be the case? Is all that spelled out on the website I've been directed to?

Thank you, Petert4522. That machins pages was just the ticket. The basic album pages it offers is just what I needed. I'm not terribly interested in ALL of the varieties. Just the main ones. And it's in color! Now, to find me some more QEII commems.
