No. It's a parcel post roller cancel. Note the vertical bars creating rectangles, and that the text spans more than the width of one stamp. Still desirable as a Navy ship cancel.
It's a shame that this was removed from a cover. Would have been a terrific piece. (I'm a fan of commercial mail from Naval vessels before WWII...lots of it is not easy to find).
paperhistory, agreed. I also wish I knew what was mailed. Of course, I'm sure the reality would be much more mundane than what my imagination can drean up.
