Has anyone married the Steiner pages with some sort of plastic mounting pages. I'm trying to achieve hingless albums at the budget level. I suspect there are some 8-1/2 x 11 plastic pages out there that would serve the purpose, if the alignment issue can be overcome.

If you're trying to duplicate the Lindner system you'll probably have a hard time duplicating it with Steiner pages. You could use clear Vario pages, but that wouldn't really work as Vario pages have a given number of rows with a uniform height. Most Steiner pages will contain a mix of stamp sizes on the same page and the alignment wouldn't really work. The only real exception being 1-pocket clear pages for souvenir sheets, which generally works pretty well.

Unless you're collecting purely NH, the most economical solution is to hinge most stamps and use clear mounts for the occasional expensive or NH stamp. You can mix hinged stamps and clear mounts in the same album or on the same page and you don't really notice it like you would if you used black mounts. Or you could use stockbooks or Vario pages and forego the use of either mounts or hinges.

IF you want go that road, use vario pages , if you don't need to see the back of the stamps, the black one are perfect, they have 2 sides. Keep in mind, Vario pages are very hard to turn if you have 30 or 40 of them in a Varion Binders or D rings binders, better keep them in small 1" binders in smaller quantity. Just print small labels to put betwen stamps. Main advantages is ; if you don't have this $ 1000 stamp on a page, you don't notice it, and also you can add stamps missing on Steiner's pages, beleive me they are quite few. You can falow Steiner'S pages, just keep them as PDF on your computers as references.
