Rockford 2-3-4 Stamp Expo
http://rockfordstampclub.org/rsc_shows.shtml The Rockford Stamp Club has announced the Inaugural "Rockford 2-3-4 Stamp Expo", to be held March 11-12, 2017. This, the 59th annual Rockford Stamp Show, will offer a new concept exhibition to offer exhibitors a venue for exclusively two, three and four (2-3-4) frame exhibits.
In the American Philatelic Society's (APS) World Series of Philately (WSP), the 30 plus national level shows, there are two major categories of competition, multi-frame up to 10 frames and single frame. Smaller 2-3-4 frame exhibits can be overshadowed by well-developed 5-10 frame exhibits and usually are not considered for the Grand or Reserve Grand awards.
The "Rockford 2-3-4 Stamp Expo" will add an annual venue to feature these 2-3-4 frame exhibits in an open competition that will be evaluated by APS Accredited Judges following APS guidelines and Uniform Exhibit Evaluation Forms (UEEFs), with points. Grand and Reserve Grand awards will be determined along with Large Gold, Gold, Large Vermeil, Vermeil, Large Silver, Silver, Silver-Bronze and Bronze awards, as per the new APS Manual of Philatelic Judging and Exhibiting, Seventh Edition. Awards offered by the American Association of Philatelic Exhibitors (AAPE) and other societies will be available.
The Rockford Stamp Show features 15 dealers from around the mid-west and produces a show cachet. Show hours are 10am-5pm Saturday and 10am-4pm Sunday. The USPS will be set up on Saturday. There is a 5c stamp table open to everyone. A major feature of the show is a silent auction each day with over 100 lots to view. An awards banquet will take place Saturday night at Stockholm Inn, a nationally recognized Swedish restaurant in Rockford.
