Hi everyone, I am looking for opinions, pro's/con's on these hingeless albums. I was given one volume of a very used lighthouse album years ago, and would like to either get a full new set of them, or Lindner. I know either one is gonna set me back $$$$, so besides that what are your thoughts? The lighthouse is nice, and some of the pages in it have Scott numbers (guess at one point, they licensed them?), but I also like the way the Lindner has a separate mount page. Does anyone know if either has a "premium binder" available? I do not like the cheap red vinyl/pleather of the lighthouse that my one album has. Thanks, Jim

Hi Jim, I use Lindner Falzos "T" album. I think it's the best album to protect your stamps. High Quality, excellent protection from dust, mold, etc. But, there is one thing I don't like about the Lindner system and that's the pages. I collect MNH Canada and USA including coils, imperfs and colors. My coils, vertical or horizontal, I want to collect doubles. ( to prove they are indeed coils or imperf. ) Lindner has no provision in their preprinted pages for that. The other thing is that the Scott # system is not 100% in order, to balance a page or make it look good they move it a couple spaces. Having said all that, I will recommend Lindner over any other album. |

I do have a US Lighthouse
Lighthouse pages are from far the best quality on the market mainly because of the quality of the mounts perfectly cut and install. The coil are by pair, that can be very expensive but for some US coil it's a must The Rotary Bar binders are usefull to insert pages, but they do have tendency to open time to time when you hit the bar accidently . I will order a spring back one day to try Slip Cases are bad quality, they split in the joint, but it's an easy non estethical fix, you put heavy transparent tape in angle.
Saying that, I think you can't be wrong with Lighthouse

Safe's Dual album is similar to the Lindner T album. I'm afraid that tacky vinyl binders are pretty much universal amongst these manufacturers. Schaubek and Davo make cloth-bound albums, but the quality of page is not as high as Lighthouse. Or you coukd forget printed albums and buy a leather-bound album! |

Personally, I think the Lighthouse vinyl binders have a luxurious look and feel. (They certainly cost enough!) And, with proper care, I think they will last a long time. But, to each their own.
Plus, the Lighthouse hingeless pages are gorgeous. And Lighthouse sells individual pages, if you damage one or just want an extra. |

Both are fine products. Each has its own drawbacks. Lindner binders will only hold about 50 pages. If you use them for a country collection you will be buying binders a lot and they are not cheap. I do like their system, you can rest assured your stamps will lie flat and not have to look at a stamp in a mount that insists on sticking out from the page, as sometimes happens in Lighthouse. |

I make my own custom albums - print the album pages, mount the stamps and slide them into transparent sleeve protectors (Avery) - gives me flexibility and control over my albums (takes a bit of my time, the result is amazing) |

My Lighthouse Vario albums are nice looking but it may not be leather. It look more like textured and embossed applique over cardboard. There is some padding under the applique and stitched around the perimeter. |

I use Lindner and SAFE. Lighthouse would be a close third in terms of preference. You can always add custom stock pages to Lindner albums and the stamps never fall out of the "pockets" as they can so easily from hingeless mounts. |
