i have many old scott album pages (with stamps) and I want to continue the collection by printing the newer album pages and mounting stamps on them. However I don't want to print the albums on white paper - does anyone know of paper shades that match the old scott or minkus album color papers that I can use to print albums so that there is not much of a striking difference in paper color?
Well, I am using a regular color that is in stock at Staples and is the same color as Scott. What you ought to do is take an album page to a local store and compare, because sometimes colors are not the same from different paper makers.
When I wanted paper that matched the color of Scott National album pages, I checked with a local printer, and brought a National page with me for color matching. He had what I needed - he was doing repeat business with a customer who required such a color, in a size larger than the album pages. Because of the repeat business, he always has remainders left over from the print runs.
He could cut the pages to size for me, but I find it easy to print the pages oversize and include an extra "border" that actually shows the size of a finished page, and I trim each one in a paper cutter after printing. That way if the paper feeds through the large format printer a little cockeyed, it doesn't matter at all.
Scott album pages are bigger than US Letter size. You won't be able to print your own drop in pages without getting a printer than does 11 x 17, and have paper custom cut to 9 3/4 x 11 1/2.
By the way, I forgot to mention that the color that resembles the Scott pages most seems to be Ivory. But please remember that the old Scott pages may have discolored a bit.
@apastuszak, I actually go the other way around.. I trim the scott page borders to make them letter size.. that way I get rid of small tears and discoloring usually found on the edges and also give the pages a new look :))
