Hello Danny!

Nice stamps.

Issued in January 11, 1862. Is the number Scott 7 and it look as 7a "without accent on "U"" - Value in scott, Unused USD$7,000.00, but the problem is that these stamps have been extensively counterfeited. You need a Certificate for to know if is genuine or not

Regards!
Rodolfo

Thanks, my jaw dropped when I found it. But then I seen where they have been counterfeited. All I know is that this collection hasn't been touched since 1945. So I guess I will send this one off. Only after I find out how to do it safely.

Stamps were forged extensively before the 1940s so you should not base your decision on when the collection was last touched!

Have some fun checking the web and literature to prove that your stamp IS a forgery.
This will be hours of entertainment for little or no cash.

If you cannot prove it IS a forgery then put money into proving that it is NOT a forgery.

It's one of the common Lange forgeries. Most of the stamps with this design in collections are Lange. They are very easily spotted since they were based on the last version of the design, only issued in the 5c value and usually the wrong color to match an original. The Lange forgeries all have the narrow "C" in Centavos. Here is a genuine 10c...
