I ws looking at an auction site and found an item from a seller in Egypt that I will buy. AT the end of the listing there is this note

No Shipping to USA - Canada - Australia
(Postoffice not Accept any letters to this country)

Is this really true ??. It does not effect me as I am in the UK and he will shop thre but it made me wonder. I cannot find anything on the web about this

In 2014, I bought the famous Panama-not-Suez Egyptian set from a fellow in Cairo, and he mailed it to NYC. YMMV.

Cheers,

That was in 2014. Looking at listings of items located in Egypt, they seem to want to either send the items via FedEx or through a 3rd country. So there must be some recent weirdness wrt mailing to the US. Perhaps something political?

... but not the UK. It makes no sense to me ...

Perhaps s/he's got a cousin in the UK, so s/he can bulk ship to the UK, and have items sent registered mail at modest expense.

Cheers,

I take the seller's statement as a fib. The seller's issue could be as simple as the seller experiencing a high rate of "item not received" complaints as a result of theft in transit, perhaps because thieves presume that letters to those locations contain something valuable.

The moniker "Londonistan" has been around since 1995 and was coined by French intelligence, according to the BBC. Many Britons have no shortage of vocal contempt for America, so I'm not sure where you're going with your complaint.
