yes - thank you - I did that. doesnt really answer if anyone has any examples of one to post - the variety I asked about - I did not see one in the search. does not answer either the perf issues either. does not answer specifically either re: scan or light... I did not see lines in light. One of posts leads to dead end as if its been deleted and I saw other mention lighting / scanning BUT the posts I saw were old. Maybe you got somrthing different. I will re-search.

Laid paper should be similar throughout Philately,
albeit in slightly different forms due to the lines of wire in the paper mould.

Imagine it like a fly wire screen, with slightly darker lines (vertical or horizontal) appearing parallel.
I have no information on Hyderabad laid paper,
they should be noticeable to the naked eye, if not take a suspected item, and place in a small dark bowl of COOL water.

Note: be aware not to confuse with BATONNE paper

Hanging chads are experienced throughout most countries stamps.

Thanks rod222 and perf12 for the scan image. While mine are from an older modest collection I doubted they were laid paper but nice to see a fresh example - horizontal and all. I thought the hanging cut outs interesting as I don't see they too often .... the lighter single image I posted seems to be a more flimsey thinner paper. But oh well. Tks again for the information and sharing.

so the scott catalogue mentions that 39a and 40a, Hyderabad A8 4p and 8p are printed on worn plates and because of that the background of the design is unshaded. Also calls for 39a and 40a as Laid paper. So if I have those issues with no background lines, they are in fact Laid paper even if I cant see it?

Hi, Scott is noting that the laid paper variety only came with worn impressions, the wove papers could be both, shaded and worn.

Tks much for the clarification. I like star trek but the cartoon didnt really help. I've tried light, scanning and fluid so im guessing the few I have are wove. Dont know what else to try?
