The sending company used their own business stamp as a way of printing a return address on their outgoing mail.

It's an interesting (and relatively early) corner card for a business. Hubbards & Shoemaker appear to have operated a grain elevator in Toledo, and they may have more generally served as merchants.

p.s. 1864, not 1884.
