Hi guys..Wonder how many plates were printed for these 658-659 stamps.
My sheet has NO Scott 659i (light in window) on it..There must have been more than just one plate printed..Any information appreciated.

Robert

According to the Unitrade Canada Specialized the variety occurs in position 22. That would normally indicate every sheet printed should show the variety as they do not mention a specific plate number to go with the position. I am not saying you are wrong, just an observation. Have you tried checking BNA Topics to see if there is any further information about the variety. Back issues prior to 2009 are available for free download at this address: http://bnatopics.org/search.php. Any later issue requires membership.

Hi wtcrowe..and welcome to the forum.

I am curious because the close up of the stamp that I posted is P22 and can not see the variety...I might send it off to BNAPS to see what they think..Thanks for the response.

Robert

wert,

I'm not sure what kind of offset printing press
Ashton Potter used but most presses printed
more than 50 stamps per "sheet".
Especially when they were in the smaller format as
these were.

What you have there is one pane of 50 which
was just one pane from a sheet of 200.

The variety only shows up in one pane and it looks like
you don't have that one.
