Is there a political reason why the USPS has not yet issued or announced an Inauguration Day Official Commemorative Souvenir Cover for President Trump? There has been no word that I can locate about the issuance. Will they issue one? If so, why no pre-announcement? I have collected all the USPS official Presidential issues since they began. I have called SFC several times inquiring and they have no word. This may be a valid reason to "tweet" !

I've not heard anything. This kinda goes hand-in-hand with what coin collectors have noticed: there has also not been an official inaugural medal produced, either. |

USPS is finally producing the Trump-Pence collectible inauguration envelope. As in the past, each envelope will come with a clear, protective sleeve. The envelope is available for $9.95 at The Postal Store® at usps.com/store. The item number is 882109. |

I visited the Post Office museum in Washington last week and was at the gift shop. There I saw previous presidential inauguration first day covers but nothing for Trump. I asked the two ladies at the cash if they had the Trump first day cover. They said it didn't come in yet. Later in the day I realized the inauguration was almost a year ago and wondered why it took so long to create the first day cover. I'm starting to believe the cover has not been produced because of political reasons, and I feel horrible about this. Any other insight from anybody? |

More likely, the covers are being produced at the source (USPS), but the manager of the gift shop intentionally isn't ordering them, either based on lack of demand or dislike of the President. It's one of those things you'll never be able to do anything about, because the manager can always say, "I have no customer demand for this," and what supervisor is going to correct that? |

The US post office website does not list a Trump Inauguration first day cover for sale, so I doubt that the issue lies with just the gift shop manager not wanting to order. |

Yes, they have available the long envelope or "cachet" but the traditional first day cover is not available... |

Sad to say, but it appears at this late date that the political beliefs of those who should be politically neutral, as far as their job is concerned, are being allowed to permeate even the philatelic arena, and from the sounds of it, the numismatic world as well.
I get that some people are not happy (to put it mildly) that Trump is President. Whether you like him or not, he IS the President and should be accorded the same respect as those before him and who will come after him.
That includes producing the same type of collectibles honoring his inauguration. |

Now, who has one already?
My question is, since the cancel is in color, does the whole envelope (cachet and all) appear to have been printed in one pass? That would make sense. The cancel is in a specific place in the frame but if we are seeing a sample photo, what a buyer gets is not always what is shown by USPS. Then if all done in one pass, is everything printed a cancel?
For color FDCs, USPS wants 2 sample test envelopes to sacrifice for an order or 10 FDCs minimum. So I can see production problems being possible to slow things down, particularly for a #10 envelope. |

I ordered a couple last year from the USPS site and this one appears to be cancelled (or printed) a bit more to the left than the stock photo. Also, the cancel appears closer to the top bar with "2017" on mine, which would seem to indicate that it was a two-pass process. (This image shows both the front and back of the packaging.) Al |
