Victorian Government Perfins (VG)
Usage of the 2nd head 1935 to 1953
Image shows all 12 die types.
Dies 3,6 & 12 all have an 11 hole "G"

Interesting, thanks for that.
What is meant by "2nd head" ?
How on ever, do you isolate the differing dies?
Say between example 1 and example 4, they look identical.

I have ( almost ) the same question, but the 2nd head must mean the second issue with the King's head on it?
But apart from the 11 hole G's, they all look identical to me also?

Peter

Petert4522: They are all different. You have to learn to look at the spacing of the dots, the slant of the dot rows, the slant of the overall characters, the size of the individual holes, the tilt or not tilt of the character lines, the forward of reversal of the length of the character lines, The size of the characters, etc. Spend a little time looking at these and you will see they are all indeed different.

Great job Buddahboy!

Rod222: 1 & 4 have different G slants. 1 is slightly up on the G crossbar, 4 is down. The second row (from the bottom on the V) is different on both. The overall height of the #1 V is 8 mm, whereas the overall height of the V on #4 is 7 mm, and on and on. They (the patterns) are all different.

There are two types of measuring, center of top row to center of bottom row, or top of top row holes to bottom of bottom row holes. In this case I used center to center. Some use other.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the Questions Rod

The Victorian Government used 4 different perforating Machines from 1933 up until 1988
The Machines comprised a solid puncturing head made up with a row of 12 VG patterns.

The KGVs in the scan are the 2nd Head (machine) die types 1935 to 1953
