This was a double whammy. The gutter says that this is a right pane (Oddly my wife calls me a right pain) The top left stamp of the block is thus in position R9/1 which, as foretold by ACSC, has the Last '2' of '1922' extended at base variety.

Additionally, the block shows a perforation pip in the lower margin.

A question: Why does ACSC say that perf pip blocks should have 8 stamps? Should this block be 4 wide across the edge with the perf pip? Is there more than one perf pip along this edge?

G'day Rene,
ACSC = Australian Commonwealth Specialists' Catalogue

The bible for the flyspeckers and Australia
Editions like this circa $2-$4 at local auction sales.

Guess:
The "pip" (that maroon /claret ring underneath the imprint) is the imprint device from the printing plate, to enable accurate positioning of the perforator / perforator pins.

Last "2" of "1922" extended at base from the recent issue of the ACSC 2015.

Mint unhinged $35. Mint lightly hinged $30. Used $30.
