Personally, I'm not convinced your stamp is either a printing freak or has a plate flaw, because the stamp is so badly damaged. Floortrader has already shown it doesn't take much to intentionally or unintentionally cause that appearance. But you have the stamp in hand, and there is only a limited amount of things that can be determined by a picture.
Same, if I can make a suggestion and give you the benefit of the doubt that it is not stamp damage -- we usually call these printing freaks or plate flaws, rather than stamp errors.
While technically a freak or plate flaw can be called a type of error, we usually only use the word "error" when part of the printing process is missing (e.g., missing color, missing perforation...) or a wrong element was used (e.g., used wrong ink color, used wrong perforator, replaced with wrong die...). When you use the word "error", people are expecting something obvious.
Secondly, just because you only have one copy doesn't make the stamp rare, nor can you make the claim that only one is known -- perhaps by you, but that doesn't mean others haven't run across these. I'm sure floortrader can attest to this, that you are not the only one who has seen "blurred" or poorly printed sections of Chinese characters on stamps of that era.
I enjoy see your stamp pics, just as I enjoy seeing stamps posted by others. However, I would suggest you lower your claims a little in your thread titles. If you truly have a rare and valuable stamp, I'm certain others will notice it quickly and post replies accordingly. Beyond that, just enjoy the printing anomalies you have found, post them and let us enjoy them as well for what they likely are -- printing freaks or possibly plate flaws.
Just my opinion/suggestion... |

Same, does your stamp have a crease that runs diagonally across those 2 characters. What appears to be a crease runs from the left side of the stamp to the bottom side of the stamp, and does goes through the top of the two right "00".
I can't tell from the back of the stamp because of all the paper adhesion. If crease or scratch, then you simply have a damaged stamp. If there is no crease or diagonal scratch, then you might have a plate scratch. |

Same, you can't claim an extremely rare stamp known only in one example without having some kind of link to articles where there is proof of why this stamp should exist.
normally nothing can be categorized as an error / variety at least 3 examples has to exist.
to me it looks like a damaged stamp, and will remain as such until I see some kind of reference that can confirm this.

Here is something that can get more interest ,the stamp was overprinted with a new value of 2,000 but this looks like 2800 I have over 200 of these types of errors in my worldwide collection and don't put much weight behind them . |

Surprised to see with the green overprint.Doing from one month the research to find an other one to see the paper. My stamp is in a very thin-pelure paper, and at the back very white and do not looks like regular paper.I found info trough INTERASIA-HONG KONG AUCTIONS.They have a dr.Sun stamp sold , but not the same design and talking about the rarity of this kind of paper. Also found that the 4 yuan blue indigo with comb perforation MINT, worth not too bad, few hundreds of dollars.Have one on ebay, except with a overprint. Can you tel me what kind of paper is yours, please? A photo will be very appreciated. Best regards, |
