It's not clear to me what the error is, even though you put a red oval. It looks like there is a hole or thin ??? Please explain the error, and confirm there is no hole or thin there. Thank you. |

That doesn't look like a rare error ,it looks like a broken printing plate caused it . Maybe someone dropped a tool onto the plate while it was on the printing press . |

Is the image comparison even valid? The stamps in the comparison have different values. Someone knowledgeable about the De La Rue archives would have to speak to whether these were true key plate issues. And the scaling of the enlarged images is not the same, which tends to exaggerate the appearance of the alleged error (which also has cancel ink in the area).
Seems better classified as an oddity. There are plenty of one-off oddities like this in philately, in which a particle of dust or a tool on the plate changed how ink adhered.
