Think I've narrowed it down to at least these 3. Using Scotts Standard and all they mention is design 24x35mm beside 1875, are they all the same size. Also what would the J. (January??), 17. (Date??), P. (??) Stand for. And then the mystery writing sideways on the stamp "Fudge worth $1000". What is that about?

Thanks for any info.

I am not a Newspaper (PR) specialist, but this scan to me appears to be one of the many European forgeries. The lettering and borders look wonky to say the least. Any chance is has "falsch" "Facsimile" or a similar marking on the back?

Your stamp is most likely a European forgery. The margins are much larger than those found on US Newspaper stamp and the printing quality is inferior to that found on the typical US Newspaper stamp. The scan is of a Scott PR69.

No forgery on back, but very obvious after seeing wtcrowe's pic. To the forgery collection book I guess. Now the question I have would this have been used at issue time or after. It's from an older album, which I know means nothing but I'm wondering.
