In the design on each side of the Queen's head, near the dividing line of the halpenny.

after exploring other gb#58 stamps I found a plate "19" which looks
to be very similar to my subject stamp,to the right you can see the numbers 19 with an inverted "1" and a normal "9"...the stamp image below is from a current auction at HIPSTAMP.com

I can't make out plate numbers in either of these images - there are plenty of 1/2d bantams on ebay to compare. The "1" in the plate number isn't inverted, as far as I know.

The plate number gets substantially weaker with plate wear. On many pictures you take off the internet, the plate number cannot be clearly seen because the resolution is insufficient. You really need at least 400dpi resolution for most of these 1/2d Bantams. Enlarging a low resolution picture doesn't do the job. Even at that 400dpi+, the plate number sometimes still cannot be seen due to plate wear or obscured by cancel.

I'm not really sure what you mean by inverted 1 ??? There are no serifs on the plate numbers, so the "1" is just a line. What do you mean by "inverted"? The plate number on opposite sides are rotated 180º with respect to each other -- that is the normal configuration. So the left plate number is read from bottom to top, and the right plate number is read from top to bottom.

Edw Kim, if you crank up the resolution and crop all but the area wherre the plate number is located you should be able to get it to this quality so even the tough G.B. QV's can be seen. This is at 1200 DPI
