I wonder if they count on libraries buying the complete year sets and suspect the volume of regionals would vary dramatically. It may make for lower print runs but maybe that is the way it should be. It does not help predict revenue (profit). The overhead to maintain them is likely fairly stable. Maybe the print cost is 30% of the net selling price so the rest covers overhead and profit.
I wonder if the need for new catalogues is really for new issues or changed prices especially since this is mentioned a lot when they release a new catalogue.
