These are good stamps to use to start learning about the Washington/Franklin series. You will eventually need to learn about perforations and watermarks. As a start, you can glean a lot of ID information on the Stamp Smarter site http://www.stampsmarter.com

You will find many useful online resources on this site to help with the stamp shown above.

Filter Technology looks like a good thing. If USPS missed its backing you just go with the unwatermarked scott number.
