There is a billboard on the far western edge of the Milwaukee metropolitan area that reads "Party With A Pig" and then goes on to offer whole dressed pigs for roasting or BBQ. But in this case it also works for some new postcards that just arrived from Latvia compliments of
ebay. Pigs are a recurring theme on Latvian New Year postcards. I assume as a wish of good fortune and prosperity for the upcoming year. Especially since Latvia was very much agrarian in this time period. I've always gotten a kick out of the humorous settings on many of them such as these. So here are 5 for your enjoyment.
Dated 1.I.1931 but not postally sent.

Cancelled Riga 3.1.30. Sent after the fact.

Cancelled Sesava 1.V.39. Not real sure why this was sent that late.

Not postally sent but of the same 1930's period. Apparently our subject was not into partying but preferred a good book and pipe instead.

Cancelled Daugavpils 30.X.38. Some folks heading out for a good time.
