I question some of the vinyl precancels I have looked at, the 800 series, do you know of a inexpensive method to check if the ink matches the era of the stamp? Thanks in advance!
no... precancel collectors assume the vinyl's [800/900 series types] on older stamps are just souvenirs... collect them if you like but don't assume they were done contemporaneously.
