I've posted a few fore-runner covers from South West Africa in a different section of this forum, but the stamps and postmarks are easier (and generally much cheaper) to assemble. Postage and postage due stamps of South Africa were used in South West Africa from its invasion in 1915 until the territory issued its own stamps in 1923.

Regarding the scans, sorry for the bit of fluff which appears with alarming regularity. I've cleaned the scanner now!

Nice work indeed, Tim.
That collection will last several lifetimes, I should imagine.

Tim - Absolutely marvelous stuff - very well presented!

Several years back I actually had a large accumulation of the S.Afr 1913-24 GV issue on paper - however at time I was not into forerunners yet - so it never occurred to me then to check for SWA postmarks. All the remainders were simply passed on in a big junk lot. When looking at your display I am thinking I did a major mistake. What is maybe even worse is that the person that purchased the lot will probably not check for forerunner postmarks either. So much cool stuff simply flows around 'undetected'

Ha ha, Jon. I wonder if some of your material has made it into my collection? If it has, then I'm looking after it very well!

Tim, this is just beautiful. I love those postmarks, and I really love the names of the towns.
