Nice to find out about new issues on the CBC news.

Anyway... surprise! a second dose of Star Trek, as if one dose was not expensive enough!
Anyway... the Canada Post site is offering all kinds of products - one is the uncut press sheet.
Interesting that no souvenir sheet from the press sheet is offered.
It should look like this:

Can anyone shed some light on this? Does it have an order number?

Looks like another mortgage on the house. And the PO said it would be reducing the number issues this year.

On sober second thought... I looked over last year's collection.
The uncut press souvenir sheet was one of the pages in the "Prestige" booklet.
Similarly, this year's press sheet is one of this year's "Prestige" pages.

What's missing is the s/s for the coil stamps. Probably because there is only one stamp, unlike last year's two.

As of today, all of the stamps are on the Canada Post web site with their respective order numbers. They are on sale starting Friday April 28th.

I went to my local P.O. today and bought two of the deluxe booklets, one to keep intact and one to explode for display on my pages - just like the first issue. It is obvious Canada Post has assimilated me .

Here is the Borg $5 stamp - it is only assimilate-able from the booklet. It is not self-adhesive, and it is perforated and lickable.

I wonder what year 3 will show.

Did Canada Post say there is going to be a year 3?
I certainly hope not! (just in case BeeSee wasn't joking)

I picked up a copy of the Details magazine from my local Post Office.

The Star Trek - Year 2 Details states on Page 3:
"A second year on the edge of the final frontier concludes our exploration of the best pf Star Trek."

So there should be no more, but like the twelve different Chinese New Year stamps that are reissued every thirteen years, may never end !

Canada Post has found new ways to sell collectible stamp issues like Star Trek.
- change the perforation (5 captains and Galileo),
- change the gum (5 captains and Galileo),
- limit the number of stamps issued (Borg cube)
- limit the number of stamps issued based solely on where they appear
(5 Captains booklet stamps and and Galileo coil stamp - with perforation and gum changes),

$5.00 Borg cube:
- MNG stamps are available only in the Prestige Booklet
(rarest - 75,000 limited number of a high denomination stamp)
- used stamps are available only on the Official First Day envelope
(rare - 75,000 limited number)
- any Prestige Borg cube stamp used on covers in period will be exceptionally rare.

Five Captions:
- $8.50 Booklet stamps - are all "Permanent" domestic postal rate, have simulated perforations and pressure sensitive gum.
(Fairly large number - 700,000 of each stamp.

- $7.35 Pane of 5 Stamps - have 5 different postal rates - "Permanent", $1.00, $1.20, $1.80 and $2.50, are perforated and have P.V.A. gum.
(Lower number - 85,000 of each stamp.

- In the Prestige Booklet pane with the Booklet version of the 5 captains. it has the same postal rate - "Permanent", but are perforated and have P.V.A. gum.
(Rare - 75,000 of each stamp with perforation and gum change).

- In the Prestige Booklet pane with the Pane of 5 Stamps version of the 5 captains, nothing has changed - the same postal rates - "Permanent", $1.00, $1.20, $1.80 and $2.50, same perforations and P.V.A. gum.
(fairly large number - 75,000 of each stamp, but added to the 85,000 mentioned above).

- In the Uncut Press Sheet, the same pane as the one in the Prestige Booklet, but unperforated.
(Rarer - 30,000 panes)

Galileo Coil Stamp;
- 60,000 rolls at 50 stamps with top and bottom margin die cut simulated perforations and pressure sensitive gum. The side margins are straight line die cut.
(normal production number - 3,000,000 stamps)

- In the Prestige Booklet pane with the coil roll version of the Galileo, the stamp has the same postal rate - "Permanent", but has die cut simulated perforations on all four margins and has P.V.A. gum.
(Rarer - 75,000 of this stamp with perforation and gum change).

Summary:
To cover all versions of the issued stamps, you must purchase a coil, a booklet, a Pane of 5 Stamps, a Prestige Booklet and an Uncut Press Sheet.

Corrected "Coil" perforations per Bee See's input below.

Guys, at least the Canadian stamps look a whole lot better than the US ones!

The Galileo shuttle craft from the prestige booklet is die-cut all around while the coil stamp is die-cut at top and bottom. It is also the only stamp in the series that is inscribed Canada 150 (as far as I can see).

I know that Canada has a Star Trek connection given that several of the actors are Canadian but when any country starts to produce more stamps on the topic than its own mother country which in this case for Star Trek is the U.S.A. then it is beginning to look like those countries that produce many topical stamps that are not fully related to the country of issue. Also, does not CP have to pay big royalties/licensing fees to the owners of the Star Trek trademark for this? Who is paying for all of this, stamp collectors who are Star Trek fans? BTW I am a Star Trek fan who has not bought any of these stamps since I stay away from new issues even if I am tempted by their attractive theme.

Jogil, you are lucky you were not assimilated . I do not buy most new issues anymore but did get some of the Star Trek items.

I am sure that whatever Royalties that CPC paid were well covered by the sales figures, otherwise "Year 2" would not have been issued.
