Yes I received the same today. I suspect it was because the Details pamphlet was so skimpy - 1 sheet folded in half - that something more substantial was needed i.e. the envelope to actually mail it.

Ottawa, why everything it's not in ANTIGONISH NS like before..... When something is simple they change it. National Philatelic Center in a province and philatelic customer service in another one.
So happy to not deal with them anymore since 2000

Do the 'in-retail' Canada Post counters tend to have the magazine, or only 'real' post office locations?

By the way, the Details that you get at the post office or Shoppers Drug Mart is different than the one that is mailed to you.

The mailed version is either English or French with the bottom of the last page (back cover)having your mailing address and a personalized indicia as the stamp. (The Eid Details was an exception.)

The post office version has both English and French versions together(tete beche)and the last page of each version does not have the personalized indicia.

Hmmmm ... wonder if that's a collectable ...

I'd keep the envelope with the EID Indicia, as I also think it is a nice collectible

Gilles le T.
Your Eid envelope's indicia is English-first "Personalized Mail".
Up until now, the Details Picture Post stamps have been issued both ways, i.e. French-first to Francophone addressees (which yours should be).
Maybe - if they continue with this new format - the French-first indicia will be dropped.

Canada Post failed to send out my copy of "endétail", the French version of "Details" of this scrawny cat! (#3)
When I called about it a week or so ago, the nice lady said that no, there was no French version, only a bilingual one now - although I saw a copy on ebay. (Lady, I'm looking right at it!)
When I phoned again, the nice man said they had not been sent out yet - just wait. (But, sir, I'm looking at one on ebay.)

Needless to say, the one on ebay has gone and nothing has arrived, though I checked that they had my correct address.

All this to say that if anyone has an extra French version I would love to have it, inasmuch as I collect the indicia.

Thanks everyone, Steve

Hi Sbs.Rmbac, welcome to the forum.

As I wrote in another Topic:
There are four versions of Canada Post's Details magazine.

1. English version - with English-first indicia - mailed to English Canadians
2. French version - with French-first indicia - mailed to French Canadians
3. Bilingual version - printed tête-bêche, no indicia - post office racks
4. International version - English, black pre-paid indicia - mailed to USA and abroad

Are you interested in a particular version?
#1 & #2 have Picture Post indicia, #3 does not.
