Hello sak. Thanks for replying. I recently subscribed for receiving the Details Magazine by mail. I recently received a duplicate which I originally picked up at the post office. They're identical with English/French (tête-bêche) because it was enclosed in a cardboard envelope. No indicia printed on the magazine.
Regardless, I guess either Option 1 or 3 will be fine ... thanks.

How does one specify the French version? A friend is trying to subscribe and is confused because the online order form does not offer a choice.

Is it that Quebec addresses get the French while all other provinces get the English?

Thanks,
Peter

My suggestion is to open a session in French on the Post-Canada website to be recognized as francophone, I don't remember if that's what I did for my French version. You can also call them at 1-800-565-4362 for a better advice.

When you register on Canada Post site for the Details subscription, you can chose the language.

Nialat,

It does not allow you to choose the language. We just tried it thinking maybe there was a 2nd page that would come up after clicking on "Submit" but there was not. Just a screen that said "Success".

In Detail magazine oct-nov 2021 No 9 page 3:

'If you haven't received this publication in the official language of
your choice, let us know at *** Private information removed by Staff. Please do not post your address/email/phone number etc. ***'

Call them at 1-800-565-4362 and let them know that it is impossible to chose the language on the request form. They have updated their website recently, could be possible this was ommited by mistake.

Nialat,

Unfortunately we used the English site and that option is not available there.
I guess Canada Post assumes that using the English site automatically means one does not want the French Details.

Thanks anyway!

You are right pwscg, there is no choice possible on the English subscription form !!!.
Is this a simple oversight on their part ?
I made a request by electronic mail asking them to correct this inequality of choice.

Thanks Pollux.

Sadly, too late for my friend. He will have to email/phone Canada Post to set up his language preference.

I don't want to get too political here, but I would challenge Postes Canada for not conforming to the official language Act. They should offer similar services in both official languages. Offering a lower service level to their english customers is counter to the spirit of the law.

I would advise them the lack of options, since they upgraded to the new site, so many issues….
