hi everyone,I have inherited a large collection of India and Gandhi stamps, but I have almost no exposure to philatelic world so I need some guidance....I have sort of evaluated them with the help of a passionate collector and find most of them listed in the catalogues, so I well aware of their value ,but no one could tell me if they are real/authentic or forgeries with value.I have approached also few international philatelic societies, and sent them sample picture as the ones below, and the answers I varied from firm answers of being fake to "not sure ,we need to see them". Now the "we need to see them, pls come and show or courier them to us" part is challenging as they charge as per each stamp catalogue value ,which in this case will lead to a huge amount which I can not afford, although I am willing to have them certified with authenticity certificated in other to ,of course ,sell them sometime in future. So I need help ,maybe if you have encountered in your experience or if you have expertise over this area, will you please express an opinion whether these stamps stands any chance of being genuine or not,so I can take a decision whether to invest the money in sending them over for the certification or not. The collection includes a large no of Gandhi stamps, postcards, books on him ,even anniversary limited edition items. Thank you in advance for taking time and reading this. *please see below few samples of these stamp. *** Moved by Staff to a more appropriate forum. ***

Cara Mia, welcome to the forum. It would help if you at least let us know where you are from. We can then steer you towards a local club.

thank you ,I ll retake them ,each stamp individually. I m from Dubai and travel a lot to London, but in Dubai they have no certification board for stamps, and in London I have already checked with Royal Philatelic society where I received the answers quoted above, also from Gibbson....I was hoping anyone here collects this kind of stamps or have knowledge on them, that 's why I posted here... |

Welcome. I am moving your thread to a different category where it will attract more feedback. Single stamp images, cropped closely (without the large black background) would indeed be helpful. Don |

There are various people here who are expert in stamps of India and the states, so it's worth providing some larger images. Gibbons doesn't, I think, comment on the authenticity of stamps - unless it were buying tem or auctioning them. Any certification body would give you the same response as the RPSL, I'm afraid. |

that is exactly my point but I can not give them for expertise and pay a tax which for me is kind of big, without having at least a few confirmations that they might be worth investing (in an authenticity certificate I mean)...I think no one will easily be willing pay few thousands pounds and facing the risk of loosing them....do not take me wrong,I AM a risk taker ,but a reasonable one though ;) |

Your last image is 149 KB, the card with the stamps after cropping is 16.5 KB. I increased that cropped image 200% and that image is 39.3 KB and much easier to see. I'm sure you had to scale your photo down to post. Crop first. |

I will work on this today and repost with cropped pictures hopefully much clearer. I checked the sides,I found only one stamp that seems bit similar with one of mine.....but who can say mine is genuine or a forgery....

I am sorry to inform you that all the stamps pictured so far are forgeries or reproductions of little or no value. |

No need to take trouble to repost cropped up images. All of them are simply fakes. There are differences between forgeries and fakeries. |

There you go Cara Mia, Joy was kind enough to weigh in. Joy is a very experienced and knowledgeable collector and you can take his opinion to the bank. He saves other folks a lot of time and trouble with these sometimes confusing stamps. Don |

THANK YOU !!you really saved me time money and energy in trying to establish their authenticity,I will inspect the rest of collection to see anything valuable, but I was thinking It maybe worth donating the entire collection to some one who really are passionate about stamps not a mere "pagan" :)))) like me |

This is what the Rajpipla stamps should look like: Rajpipla also issued letter sheets, which are uncommon, but nothing like the legitimate stamps: |
