One of the fish jumping to get away from the birds that are being used to hunt them. (Fisherman ties the string tight around the necks of the birds to prevent them from swallowing them.)

Thanks for everyone's comments. I now see the cormorants depicted. Since there's no shading on the dewlap, I had mistook it for background, and the edge defining it for continuation of the same cord extending from the man's hands…
