"Winter Landscape at Lavacourt" by Claude Monet was featured on another stamp issued by Paraguay, 1968. An unusual painting, because Monet's work is best known for marvelous colors; winter with sunshine is on page 3 here.  |

The Swiss have a wonderful sense of dry humor. This snow-cow was sketched for the Swiss by the French illustrator Patrice Killoffer. It belongs to a set of four, one for each season, 2004. Only a few days ago the Swiss cows out on pasture might have looked like this, now the snow is gone and they look much happier.  |

One of Ireland's 2010 Europa stamps features a scene from The Happy Prince tale from Oscar Wilde's 1888 book of children's stories. The Happy Prince statue stands in the winter snow, stripped of its gilt covering and jewels.  |

This 2004 stamp of Liechtenstein features an aerial view of the snow-covered village of Steg. Steg is the site of the country's only ski jumping hill, according to Wikipedia.  |
