HUNGARY1983 On June 3, 1811, the first manned balloon flight took place over Hungarian territory. The Austrians Menner and Kraskovitz flew in front of a large invited audience and Menner took the opportunity to test a parachute he was developing, launching a cat they had boarded for that purpose.  |

Here's a hot air balloon postmarked Mar 20,1882 from Galveston, Texas to New York. Cover is approximately 144 years old. This cover survived many generations. Proud to be the current custodian of it.  |
