It's nice to see your blue Bradbury Wilkinson essay.

There's a black & white illustration of this in my old SG QV Specialised along with one of an essay by De La Rue showing the King of Portugal.

From the context, both of these appear to have been experimental essays for printing GB surface printed (letterpress) stamps so I suspect this essay is also surface-printed.

Number 11
Note: Small Triangular marks inside the the four sides of the middle Cross.
seen on numbers 1,2,4,5,6,10,11,and 12.

Issue Date 1st April 1843

Numbers: Possibly monitoring the work of Clerks, or, perhaps indicating differing departments.

Numbers 3 and 11 are fairly scarce, Number 4 is the scarcest.

Query : these two items still have fragments of covers adhering, is it wise to soak off ?
or, leave well enough alone? (Both, blued paper)

PLATING : neophyte for plating, any suggestions welcomed. Alphabet types ?

The "J" looks like it has issues.
