Hello, Just curious to know what the A in the label stand for?
Did they run out of R labels, and used something else?

I don't know and I would be interested in learning if someone does know and posts the answer. My only guess is that it might stand for something like Acquafredda. There are several communes including Acquafredda that are next to Visano and perhaps they shared the one post office? That is just a wild guess though.

Most probably R stand for italian "Raccomandata"-Registered letter and A stand for italian "Assicurata" -insured letter.

2: A= anotacion, Colombia registration inscription, 1865-70.
