Spotted on ebay recently. Seller asking nearly full Scott.

What do you think?

Jim

You probably won't be surprised when you see the seller's name:

Awful fake. Made by trimming every other perf with a razor. No surprise at the seller, however.

I had also spotted this rather crude forgery. complained to him about a year ago and he never responded.

I once complained in person to him at a show about a fake, and his answer was "write me an email". Which he ignored anyway.

To the best of my knowledge, I've never met this outstanding citizen, but he sounds like the phrase "caveat emptor" brought, unfortunately, to life.

Yet he enjoys a solid reputation with some people. I must have seen it years ago in his Linn's Stamp News ads and I may not be remembering exactly as it appeared but I think it said: "Member in good standing with most philatelic organizations". That was following some sort of censure from the ASDA, I believe. I always got a kick out of that.

Sadly, he is actually very knowledgeable and has a lot of very fine material, but it gets mixed with items like this regularly too.
