Hereunder is a few pics which I believe to be a double inscription on each of the following stamps: Unitrade # 520, 521, 524, 525, 526, and 528.

Only one example out of approximately 2000 copies of each stamp was found. Therefore this variety appears to be relatively rare.

I believe that my pics show a double inscription rather then a kiss print. However I am not sure.

Major1044..I believe you have slip print(s)...As per Re-entries.com

Quote:
To create a slip print, (sometimes called a 'slurred' print), the paper was somehow shifted slightly while the paper was in contact with the plate, either touching the plate just before it was properly positioned, or pulled from the plate a little too quickly before the ink had properly separated from the plate on to the paper, drawing the ink away slightly in one direction, giving it a doubled effect.

I do not remember where I copied this from, so can't give credit, but it is from a black doubled printed SC 523b.

Thanks for your comments Wert.
I admit that I am a bit confused. It's the first time that I hear of a split print.

Your explanation clearly describes the probable cause for a doubling effect. It looks like the sheet was twice in contact with the plate. As a final result, the variety appears as a double print. The oblique bars between NOEL and 1970 are clearly doubled, without any apparent drag or slip effect.

In Unitrade would this variety be called a split print or double print?

BlackJag, I believe that your pic is from Unitrade 523b, identified as a triple print.

I agree with Major1044 that the stamp image I posted is a triple print, not a double as I said above.

The 2017 Unitrade does not show an example of the 523b triple print.

So, someone can explain what is the kiss print and split print.
Also, can we have a double printing who looks like a over inked but no doubling?
Thank you.
