Major1044..I believe you have slip print(s)...As per Re-entries.com
Quote: To create a slip print, (sometimes called a 'slurred' print), the paper was somehow shifted slightly while the paper was in contact with the plate, either touching the plate just before it was properly positioned, or pulled from the plate a little too quickly before the ink had properly separated from the plate on to the paper, drawing the ink away slightly in one direction, giving it a doubled effect.
Thanks for your comments Wert. I admit that I am a bit confused. It's the first time that I hear of a split print.
Your explanation clearly describes the probable cause for a doubling effect. It looks like the sheet was twice in contact with the plate. As a final result, the variety appears as a double print. The oblique bars between NOEL and 1970 are clearly doubled, without any apparent drag or slip effect.
In Unitrade would this variety be called a split print or double print?
BlackJag, I believe that your pic is from Unitrade 523b, identified as a triple print.
So, someone can explain what is the kiss print and split print. Also, can we have a double printing who looks like a over inked but no doubling? Thank you.
